About the artwork: This puzzle is based on Hiroshige’s celebrated woodblock print Meguro Drum Bridge and Sunset Hill (1857), part of his landmark series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo. The print depicts the gracefully arched Taiko (“Drum”) Bridge at Meguro, framed by trees and a descending twilight sky. Hiroshige’s mastery of ukiyo‑e landscape is evident in his use of perspective, colour gradation, and seasonal atmosphere. The bridge itself was unusual in Edo Japan — a stone arch more typical of Chinese design — and became a local landmark. In this twilight scene, Hiroshige captures both the tranquillity of evening and the quiet human presence of travellers crossing the bridge, blending natural beauty with cultural resonance.
