About the artwork: Raoul Dufy, a pioneer of the Fauvist movement, was celebrated for his bold palette, gestural brushwork, and ability to capture the breezy elegance of the Mediterranean. Nice, Le Guéridon (1938) exemplifies his fascination with interiors that open onto the sea. Here, a richly patterned room — filled with textiles, flowers, and the titular guéridon table — is juxtaposed with the calm expanse of the Côte d’Azur beyond the open windows.
